What is Emergency Management?

Emergency management is the process of dealing with and avoiding risks, particularly catastrophic events that affect communities, regions, or entire countries. Emergency Management involves preparing for, mitigating, responding to and recovering from an emergency.

The Town has adopted a multi-hazards Emergency Management Plan that provides guidance on handling various emergencies and, if necessary, accessing additional help from other resources.

Addison has instituted an Emergency Communications System - Addison Alert - that allows residents to receive emergency notifications by text, email or phone. All residents must re-register at AddisonAlert.com to receive updates.

Outdoor Warning Sirens

Addison has 6 Outdoor Warning Sirens placed strategically around the Town. The purpose of the sirens are to notify people who are outdoors, that something life-threatening is happening and they should go indoors to get more information.   The sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of every month at 1pm. They will not be tested if there is threatening weather in the area.
