Pardon Our Dust...

Beautify Belt Line

UPDATE:  November 4, 2016
Contractor to Finish Work on Belt Line Soon - Waiting Begins for Utilities to Complete their Work

Assistant Director of Infrastructure Development Services Jason Shroyer explained to Council during an October 20 work session that over the next few weeks Addison's contractor will be completing right of way work along Belt Line Road between Marsh Lane and Midway Road.  The duct banks have been finished and they are finalizing sidewalks improvements and replacing traffic signal poles.  The new signal lights won't be activated until the underground electrical infrastructure has been put in place.  Now that the duct bank work is complete, Addison staff is working with Oncor, AT&T, Time Warner Cable and Fiberlight to put their cables underground.  Once those cables have all been relocated, the overhead utility poles will be removed. Unfortunately, we don't have control over the utility companies' timelines, but are doing our best to move the project along as quickly as possible.

To address the next phase of Belt Line Road, Addison staff created and presented a decision hierarchy to help define the process.  The goal is to design options and opinions of probably cost, establish an effective communication system, and establish clearly defined project elements and project expectations.  Now that Council is familiar with the new process, staff will move forward detailing the various elements necessary to bring the decision hierarchy for phase two of Belt Line utility undergrounding back to Council for consideration.
