Council Receives Special Events Update

Interim Special Events Director Yesenia Saldivar presented Council financial and operations reconciliation reports for Taste Addison and Kaboom Town! as well as an update on Oktoberfest at the August 23 City Council Meeting. A total of 25 Addison food establishments participated in Taste Addison 2022 which attracted almost 14,000 attendees to Addison Circle Park on June 3-4. The event, which is funded through Addison's hotel fund, generated 210 hotel room nights. Event expenditures exceeded revenues by $553,718. However, Taste Addison's marketing generated more than 83 million impressions through media buys, in-kind media sponsorships, and public relations efforts. You can watch Council's Taste Addison discussion here and read the presentation here.

Kaboom Town! attracted 13,000 people to Addison Circle Park, but more than 500,000 to Addison, and generated more than 928 hotel room nights. Event expenditures exceeded revenues by $303,799, which was less than what was budgeted. You can watch the Council’s Kaboom Town discussion here and read the presentation here.

Ms. Saldivar also shared a preview of Addison's 35th Oktoberfest. The event will take place from September 15 - 18 at Addison Circle Park. Thursday and Sunday will be free and adult tickets are $10 on Friday and Saturday.
