Addison City Council Appoints David Gaines as City Manager

The Addison City Council appointed David Gaines to serve as the Town's next city manager at a Special Meeting on Tuesday, November 15 at 5:30pm. Gaines has more than 14 years of municipal experience, including over 4 years with the City of Denton where he currently serves as Deputy City Manager.

"I am honored and excited to be selected to serve as the City Manager of the Town of Addison,” said Gaines.  “I am grateful to the Mayor and Council for their trust and confidence and look forward to building relationships with the community, staff, and Council. Together we will continue to provide world-class service and make Addison a great place to live, work, and play"

Gaines currently oversees the Finance, Engineering, Public Works, Planning & Development Services, Economic Development, Airport, and Water Utilities departments.  He previously served as Denton’s Assistant City Manager & CFO and has also worked with the Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District, and the City of Dublin, OH, as well as the cities of Grand Prairie, Celina, and Carrollton in Texas. He earned his Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of North Texas and is a Certified Government Finance Officer.  Gaines brings skills in finance, innovation, project management, strategic planning, and team building.

Gaines is slated to begin his new position on January 3, 2023.

During the nationwide search, Addison’s Executive Director of Business Performance and Innovation Hamid Khaleghipour has been serving as the interim city manager.  Addison’s former city manager, Wes Pierson, joined the City of Frisco on August 2.
