For over 50 years, Metrocrest Services has provided a variety of programs for Addison residents such as a food pantry, job skills training, senior programs, and rent assistance. In July 2021, Metrocrest Services asked Addison to support their Building Our Future capital campaign with a $120,000 contribution. The campaign seeks funding for the construction of Metrocrest's new Community Support Facility, a $15.8 million project which broke ground in November 2021 and is slated to open in the spring of 2023. The request was discussed by Council during the August 24, 2021 and December 14, 2021 Council meetings.

At its January 11 meeting, Council approved a $120,000 Reimbursement Grant Funding Agreement between Addison and Metrocrest Services for the campaign. One of the key provisions of the grant is that Metrocrest agrees that the new building will be designed, developed, and constructed for the purpose of providing the Town’s residents enhanced access to local social services including, but not limited to:

  • Expanded case management services, space, and staff
  • Center for employment and continued education
  • Expanded food pantry and warehouse
  • Mobile pantry truck program capabilities
  • Volunteer center with training kitchen
  • Teaching garden with a nutritional program
  • Shared space to offer complementary services
