The City Council approved an ordinance at its February 13 Meeting calling for a Charter Election on May 2, 2020. On Thursday, January 30, the Charter Review Commission presented Council with their final report which included 26 recommended amendments to Addison's Charter. The amendments ranged from eliminating unnecessary sections and making language consistent with current state laws to requiring candidates to file a petition to run for Council and clarifying language on when debt instruments can be issued.

The 14-member Commission was appointed by Council on September 10, 2019 and met six times over the past three months to review all sections of the Town's Charter.
Town staff will create voter education material to share with the community in the coming weeks.
