At its May 12 meeting, the City Council approved an $85,000 emergency funding request from Metrocrest Services. Since the middle of March when the COVID-19 pandemic began, Metrocrest Services has seen significant increases in demand for food and rent assistance. Addison families visited the organization's food pantry 189 times in April, a 302% increase over last year, and Metrocrest Services is projecting to spend $73,232 on food from April through July to support Addison residents. It has also assisted 22 Addison families in April with rent assistance, a 144% increase over last year, and is projecting to serve 92 more Addison families over the next four months at a cost of $55,200.

Addison allocated $66,120 for funding for Metrocrest Services as part of the Fiscal Year 2020 budget. This one-time emergency grant is in addition to the budgeted grant.

You can support the Metrocrest Services through financial contributions, as well as donations to its food pantry. Volunteers are also needed to assist with food distribution. Find out more details on their website.
