Effective on September 1, 2019, state law prohibits cities from basing residential building permit or inspection fees on the value of the dwelling or the construction cost of any proposed home improvements. Addison, along with many other cities throughout Texas, has based building permit fees on the value of the project. Therefore, we were required to adjust our fees for residential construction.

Staff reviewed the current Town expenses and permit revenue obtained from residential construction projects to develop a proposed fee structure that complies with the new law and is in line with other cities. The new permit fee ordinance was approved by Council at its September 10 meeting.
