Vitruvian Park

The Town has recently begun the process of dredging Farmers Branch Creek at Vitruvian Park from approximately Bella Lane to the weir structure 600 feet south of Ponte Avenue. Contractors plan to remove approximately 5,000 cubic yards of silt through a channel that is roughly 50-feet wide, five-feet deep, and about 1,900 linear feet.

They are using a hydraulic dredging method where water-filled sediment is sucked up from the pond bottom through a vacuum-like device. The sediment will be put in large drying bags that will be placed in temporary construction easements on the banks of the ponds until the material dries enough to be removed to an approved municipal landfill.

We expect pumping operations to start at the end of next week, weather permitting. Work will begin in the upper main pond area, followed by the grotto, and then finally, the lower main pond area. The project is anticipated to be completed in October.

The park will remain open, but portions of the park will be closed periodically throughout the project. We ask residents to use caution around construction areas and be aware of their surroundings. Thank you for your patience as we work to make Addison a better place to live, work, and play.
