Council adopted a new Economic Development Strategic Plan at its April 25 Meeting. The goals and strategies contained in the new plan build upon the Town’s recent and ongoing plans, while offering insight as to how to create a scenario where “the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts.”

In the spring of 2018, City Council approved a contract with Ady Advantage, in conjunction with Gateway Planning, for the development of the Town’s new Economic Development Strategic Plan. A Special Project Committee was also appointed by the City Council to provide input.

On March 14, 2019, a draft final report with recommendations, goals, and tactics was presented to City Council during a special work session. Council was provided an opportunity to ask questions, and to provide any final comments and suggestions on the plan during the meeting. Since then, staff has worked with the consultants to make final edits.

Community input was a critical component in developing the plan. The consultants held 11 focus groups, including those with the special project committee appointed by Council, economic development allies, commercial real estate brokers and developers, local business associations, Addison TreeHouse entrepreneurs, and others. They also did an online survey and posted comment boards around town.
