As part of a phased implementation strategy for a License Plate Recognition (LPR) Pilot Project in 2018, Addison installed 20 LPR readers at eight selected intersections and neighborhood entrances. At the completion of the pilot program, Council directed staff to expand the program throughout the community.

Staff contacted the three leading LPR vendors to evaluate their technologies for three months. At the end of the trial period, staff recommended remaining with our current provider, Vigilant Solutions, for the expansion of the LPR system. Council approved a $762,000 contract with Vigilant Solutions at its April 27 meeting.
