How the Addison Community Can Help

Addison Cares logo

Even though you are practicing social distancing and quarantined at home, there are still a few ways you can help support those in need in North Texas.  If you have other organizations you would like to suggest we include on this list, please send the information to marketing@addisontx.gov.

Do You Need Help?

This is a tough time for many in the Addison Community. The agencies below can provide support, but we also have a list of resources here.

Communities Foundation of Texas

CFT has established the North Texas Community Response Fund, that will be used to support community needs in response to COVID-19. Donations to this fund will be used to provide support for organizations that work with people and communities who may be most affected by COVID-19. This will likely include support for individuals and families who need access to food and/or healthcare, supplementing lost wages and/or housing costs or support for agencies who work with vulnerable populations such as seniors and/or homeless.

Dallas County COVID-19 Response Fund

The Dallas County COVID-19 Response Fund has been established to provide frontline responders with the resources necessary to directly combat the spread of the virus SARS-CoV-2 which produces the novel coronavirus disease COVID-19. By donating to this fund, your contribution will go directly to the front lines of the fight in Dallas County as directed by its executive, Judge Clay Jenkins.

Get Shift Done

Get Shift Done is a relief fund and initiative launched in North Texas to address both affected service workers who have lost their paychecks and immediate support for the demand of the non-profits, especially with respect to hunger relief.

You can make donations here.

Goodwill

Goodwill has partnered with Dallas County Health & Human Services, Methodist Health System and Parkland Health & Hospital System to collect critically needed personal protective equipment (PPE) – including homemade masks, hand sanitizer, antibacterial soap, etc. The drive will begin Thursday, April 2 and continue through Thursday, April 30.  All items can be donated daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at a Goodwill Donation Center. For a full list of Goodwill Donation Centers, refer to www.goodwilldallas.org.

Metrocrest Services

Metrocrest Services has seen requests for services skyrocket from those in need in our community. They are seeing record numbers of pantry visits and rental requests. With your help, they have been able to continue to serve our families and seniors. You can make donations here.

Also, the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Big Game USA and Moda Fabrics United Notions on a “Better Together Metrocrest” T-shirt and mask. All proceeds go directly to benefit Metrocrest Services. T-shirts are $30 and masks are $5 and can be purchased here.

North Texas Cares

North Texas Cares is a funder collaborative made up of North Texas foundations and United Ways that have come together to provide support for organizations that work with people and communities who may be most negatively affected by COVID-19. This includes agencies who support individuals and families with access to food and/or healthcare; supplementing lost wages and/or housing costs or serving vulnerable populations such as seniors and/or those experiencing homelessness; as well as supporting academic learning and distance learning for low-income, low-access students while schools are closed.

North Texas Food Bank

The North Texas Food Bank is considered critical infrastructure, and will remain open during this crisis. In order to safely meet the increased need for food assistance in our region, the Food Bank has asked for support from the Texas National Guard.  They have also partnered with the technology platform Shiftsmart to employ workers who have suffered from lost income as a result of the Coronavirus’ impact on the economy.

You can donate here.

Restaurant Workers Community Foundation

Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation (RWCF) is an advocacy and action nonprofit created by and for restaurant workers. The RCWF Board of Directors has approved directing funds raised via its COVID-19 Fundraising Page during this crisis to be allocated for direct relief to individual restaurant workers, non-profit organizations serving restaurant workers in crisis, and zero-interest loans to help restaurants get back up and running.

Texas Restaurant Relief Fund

To respond to this immediate financial need the Texas Restaurant Associations has established the Texas Restaurant Relief Fund whose mission is to provide immediate financial relief to Texas' Independent Restaurateurs with funds designed to save employee jobs.  They have set out to raise a minimum of $10 million to support as many of Texas’ independently owned restaurants as possible.
