Receipt of your application will be acknowledged by email. Applications are then reviewed by the department which has an opening. Those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by phone.
Some management positions have residency requirements of 15 air miles proximity to Addison. However, most jobs do not have that requirement. All candidates interviewed for a position will be notified whether or not they are going forward in the hiring process. For the selected finalist from the interview process, they will receive a conditional job offer, subject to passing a physical exam and drug screen, reference check with previous employers, and a background check for criminal history and driving record. Some positions require a credit check also.

You will need the following documents to apply to become a Police Officer:
- Copy of your Social Security card.
- Original certified copy of your birth certificate. (No photocopy)
- Copy of your valid Texas driver license or a copy of another State’s driver license.
- Copy of your High School diploma or GED certificate.
- Sealed original certified copy of your college transcript, if applicable. (No photocopy)
- Photocopy of your college diploma, if applicable.
- Copy of current proof of automobile liability insurance.
- Copy of your Texas peace officer license and all training certificates awarded to you, if applicable.
- Copy of your DD-214, if applicable. Must possess an honorable discharge.
- Original certified copy of your Naturalization papers, if applicable. (No photocopy)
- Copy of your Peace Officer Certificate from your police academy, if applicable.
You will need the following documents for civilian employment:
- Copy of your Social Security card.
