On Thursday, January 30, the Charter Review Commission presented Council with their final report which included 26 recommended amendments to Addison's Charter. The amendments ranged from eliminating unnecessary sections and making language consistent with current state laws to requiring candidates to file a petition to run for Council and clarifying language on when debt instruments can be issued. The 14-member Commission was appointed by Council on September 10, 2019 and has met six times over the past three months to review all sections of the Town's Charter.

All Charter amendments are required to be approved by voters. At its February 13 meeting, Council will decide whether or not to hold a Special Charter Election on May 2.

Council extended a special thank you to all of the members of the commission which was led by Chair Bruce Arfsten and Vice Chair Sue Halpern.
