Charter Review Commission

Background

The Town of Addison Home Rule Charter requires the appointment of a Charter Review Commission to review the Town's Charter at least every ten years and make recommendations for changes (if any) to the City Council. The last Charter Review occurred in 2010.  At the October 29 City Council meeting, each Council Member nominated two residents to serve on this Commission.

For any revisions to the charter to be included as part of the Town's May 2020 election, the Commission will need to make recommendations to the City Council by mid-February 2020.  The Council will consider the Commission's recommendations, make changes to those recommendations and can add their own recommendations prior to deciding whether or not to call an election. The Commission's meeting agendas will be posted here and each meeting will include an opportunity for public input.
