Registration for Short-Term Rentals Begins May 1

Beginning on May 1, all short-term rental operators will be required to register and apply for a short-term rental (STR) permit with the Town of Addison.
Any residential property or portion of a property that is rented out on a short-term basis – for a period of fewer than 30 days – is considered to be a short-term rental. This includes homes that are listed for rent on Airbnb, VRBO Vacation Rentals, HomeAway, and similar websites.

On March 12, 2019, the City Council established regulations for short-term rentals. The ordinance does not prohibit short-term rentals, but it does allow the Town to monitor short-term rental properties and set certain standards in order to protect the integrity of Addison neighborhoods and the safety of the community.

Postcards with this information were mailed earlier this week to residents.
