Fire Department Now to Allow Control Valves on Home Fire Sprinkler Systems

In response to the recent catastrophic cold events, the Town of Addison has decided to allow homeowners to install a control valve on their fire sprinkler systems. The fire code previously prohibited control of the system due to the possibility that the life safety system could accidentally be shut off and not be in operation when needed. We have notified fire protection companies of this change which will allow you to have your water turned back on and then make repairs to your fire sprinkler later.

The Addison Fire Department will provide instructions on how to maintain your life safety fire protection systems and how to drain it when arctic cold temperatures are forecasted so you don’t have any unforeseen water breaks or are misplaced out of your home due to water damage.
