Redding Trail Dog Park Improvements

At its August 27 meeting, the City Council approved a $611,693 construction services agreement with Ratliff Hardscapes, Ltd. for the Redding Trail Dog Park and Extension to Midway Road Project. This project is being funded by a $100,000 donation from AMLI Residential as part of the AMLI Treehouse development and $85,000 from Proposition C of the 2019 Bond Program. The remainder was included in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.

The Town is adding a trail connection from the existing loop of the Redding Trail to the new sidewalk that has been recently finished as part of the Midway Road construction project. To accommodate the new trail segment, the Town will be adjusting the shape of the dog park to allow the trail to pass to the south of it. Although the dog park is losing space on its south side, it will be extended to the north and to the east, making it 1,700 square feet larger than it is currently. Another change will be that the new fence will made of strong and durable recycled plastic lumber, rather than a chain link material, which is no longer allowed by Oncor in their easement. All seating will be reinstalled on newly poured concrete walkways, and brand-new freeze-proof dog water stations will be added to allow for year-round use. The dog park and new trail segment are expected to open in early March.

Redding Trail Dog Park will be closed from late September until early March while the improvements are being made. A temporary dog park is being built at the corner of Marsh Lane and Beltway Road so that pet owners in the area will continue to have access to an off-leash area while construction is going on. Drinking fountains will not be provided during construction, so all guests are asked to provide drinking water for themselves and their pets.
