Changes to Parks Ordinance Will Allow Groups to Reserve Some Area Parks

At the June 8 City Council Meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Janna Tidwell proposed creating a Park Use Permit that will direct group gatherings of over 20 people to appropriate locations and manage the impacts to the parks. The proposed permit addresses the cost of a permit, hours of use, locations, group size, rules, and recourse if rules are broken.

 

Staff presented a proposed ordinance for Council feedback at its November 9 meeting. As part of this ordinance update, additional items such as permitting for fitness instructors and the definitions for "League Play" and "Dependent" will be also addressed. Council will consider action on the final ordinance changes at a future meeting.
