At its April 25 meeting, Council adopted a new Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan. The previous parks master plan was adopted by Council on May 26, 2009 and the majority of the items included in that plan had been implemented or were nearing completion.

Council approved a professional services agreement with MIG for the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan on December 12, 2017 and appointed citizens to the Parks Master Plan Special Project Committee to steward the project on January 23, 2018.

Between February and October of 2018, the Consultant held numerous meetings with the special project committee and staff and gathered public input to assess the community's Parks, Recreation and Open Space needs. As a result, a draft report was developed and made available to the community for review. Staff provided Council an update on the draft plan, appendix, and public comments gathered during the review period at Council's February 20 meeting. Following that meeting, the consultant revised the report to reflect feedback from Council, as well as community input received during the review of the draft report.
