The Parks Department is implementing a new tree inventory software which will help the Town better manage Addison’s Urban Forest. Starting Wednesday, October 11, two arborists will be locating, cataloging, and photographing a total of 7,500 trees in parks, trails, Rights-of-Way, Town facilities, and streetscapes in Addison. After a tree has been documented, a yellow ribbon will be tied around it to indicate that it has already been inventoried. The trees are not being removed and the ribbons will be discarded once the project is complete.

The goal is to inventory approximately 250 trees a day, so the work will take roughly two weeks to complete, weather permitting. Once the survey has been completed, the information will be uploaded into the new software and the Town’s GIS database.
