Project Status:

Signal Work

The scope of work for the project will consist of constructing traffic signals and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements at the intersections of Belt Line Road & Addison Road, Belt Line Road & Beltway Drive, and Addison Road & Sojourn Drive.

The signals at these intersections are in the high-risk category based on the 2018 Asset Management Plan. The Town’s ADA Transition Plan also identified needed improvements at these intersections.

Status Updates

March 2024:

The contractor is now scheduled to mobilize at the Addison Road and Belt Line Road intersection in April.

December 2023:

The traffic signal at Addison Road and Sojourn Drive is substantially complete. The contractor will be finishing up some minor punch list items at the intersection over the next few weeks.

Work at the Belt Line Road intersections of Beltway and Addison Road is anticipated to begin in February 2024.

August 2023:

From July 19th to August 11th the contractor's crew will complete utility exposure, setting electrical boxes and tie-in ground boxes, foundation drilling, concrete pour, and installing cabinet and signal activation using the existing service at Sojourn Dr. and Addison Rd.

Signal installation and removal of the existing poles at Sojourn Dr. and Addison Rd. is expected to be completed before the start of the school year (mid-August).

The contractor anticipates that the installation of the ramps, sidewalk, and paving stripping will be complete by August 18th.

July 2023:

The contractor has set up the Traffic Control Plan and the crew are preparing the site layout.

The contractor will start excavation and foundation drilling at the intersection of Sojourn Drive and Addison Road between July 17th and 24th.

Traffic Signal Poles are anticipated to be delivered by the first week of August.

April 2023:

The construction Notice To Proceed was issued on April 20th.

March 2023:

The contractor will begin the excavation for the traffic signal foundation installations in April 2023. Long lead times for the traffic signal poles have delayed the start of construction. The contractor anticipates the arrival of the traffic signal poles in the summer of 2023 and will begin major construction operations at that time.

The Town will be modifying the current lane striping to allow for a safer entrance into Trinity Christian Academy from Sojourn Drive.

February 2023:

The contractor is working on locating the existing dry utilities and coordinating with the franchise for the electrical service relocation before the start of the excavation on the 20th.

The contractor anticipates the excavation work and foundation installations will start in the last week of the month.

The construction NTP (notice to proceed) issuance is still to be determined due to the long lead time for traffic signal poles (expected delivery date is the end of April).

October 2022:

A preconstruction meeting was held on the 19th and the LNTP (limited notice to proceed) was issued.

August 9, 2022:

City Council approved the construction contract with Durable Specialties. The Town will work with the contractor to schedule the anticipated start times. Long lead times for materials such as the traffic signal poles are anticipated.

June 7, 2022:

The project was advertised on CIVCAST, and the advertisements were closed on June 30, 2022.

December 10, 2019:

City Council approved the design contract with Kimley Horn and Associates.
