Halloween during COVID-19 requires extra safety measures for trick or treaters and treat givers. Addison's Environmental Health Division recommends the following tips to be safe while having fun:

Trick or Treaters

  • Wear a mask, even if the costume doesn't call for one.
  • Stay 6 feet away from those not in your household.
  • Bring hand sanitizer and use it often.
  • Keep interactions brief and outside of anyone's home.
  • Avoid going out in large groups.

Treat Givers

  • Stand outside to dispense treats in candy bowl or grab-and-go baggies .
  • Wear a mask and gloves.
  • Keep interactions brief and outside the house.
  • If not outside, disinfect doorbell and door knob throughout the evening.
