While North Texas has been experiencing record temperatures this summer, Addison's Public Works & Engineering staff have been vigilantly monitoring the Town's water usage. Addison purchases its water from the City of Dallas and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulates our water quality.

Addison's drought contingency plan is triggered by high water consumption, with a threshold of 85% or 9.35 million gallons per day (MGD) of the contracted 11 MGD for four consecutive days. Water usage exceeded 9 MGD only one day this summer. Addison's August water usage has been averaging 7.6 MGD.

Another way that water restrictions could be triggered is if Dallas Water Utilities reservoirs drop below 65% conservation level.  Dallas uses surface water from seven sources: the Elm Fork of the Trinity River and the following lakes: Ray Roberts, Lewisville, Grapevine, Ray Hubbard, Tawakoni, and Fork. These reservoirs are currently at 93.1% full.

The Public Works and Engineering team will continue to monitor water usage and notify the community if any restrictions are needed.
